Boater Safety

To be eligible to drive motorboats and PWCs in Wisconsin and on Kettle Moraine Lake, boaters must meet the state’s age criteria and adhere to all state laws and regulations governing the waterways.

Boaters can choose to apply for an online boating license by completing an online education program thru the DNR and printing
their certificate of completion. The online course takes about 3 hours to complete and the cost is $30.00. It is split into short segments and if needed, you can log off and return to the course later and the website will remember where you left off. Instruction emphasizes navigation, laws, ethics, personal safety and the proper use of boats. Children at least 12 years of age may operate a boat or PWC if they have a certificate of completion of Boater Safety. The course is a good idea for any age.
