Goose Control

Geese have continued to be a source of irritation to many lake residents. In the past, KMLA has coordinated a goose round up with the USDA fish & wildlife to remove geese. Each spring, Joan Kornitz applies for a goose depredation permit with the DNR which allows KMLA to oil eggs prior to hatching or contract with USDA for a round up. For many years, Steve Wilke has searched out goose nests and sprayed them with oil to prevent the eggs from hatching. Thank you Steve for your continued help with this. We are looking for help with this project.

Each goose can produce 1-2 pounds of droppings each day and are a major contributor of phosphorous and nitrogen in the water.
